Synopsis
This presentation invites participants into the art of audio visual storytelling, where still images are brought to life through sound, rhythm and intention. An audio visual sequence is more than a collection of photographs set to music; it is a carefully woven experience in which image, soundtrack and transition depend on one another to convey meaning, mood and emotion.
The session explores why we create audio visuals — to inform, to entertain, to move an audience, to tell a story or to shape a personal or artistic response. At its heart is the idea of intention: what is being said, felt or suggested, and how a sequence can express this through imagery, symbolism and pacing. Participants are encouraged to think deeply about narrative structure, from the power of a compelling opening image through to a satisfying and resonant conclusion.
Sound is treated as an equal partner to the visual. Music, narration, text and sound effects are shown to shape atmosphere and emotional tone, guiding the viewer through the story. The presentation highlights the importance of harmony between sound and image — where tempo, transitions and visual energy echo one another — and how thoughtful choices can elevate a sequence from simple slideshow to expressive art.
Alongside creative principles, the presentation also touches on practical considerations: selecting and sequencing images, pacing transitions, choosing appropriate fonts, and preparing audio visuals for different viewing platforms. An overview of commonly used software provides a pathway from concept to completed work. Together, these elements offer a gentle but purposeful guide for anyone wishing to transform still images into a cohesive, emotive audio visual narrative.
