Description: Tin City Safari, Stockton Beach nr Newcastle
TIN CITY SAFARI      -       STOCKTON BEACH NEAR NEWCASTLE

While Tin City on Stockton beach is the hero of this weekend away there are plenty of other photogenic features in the area. Some of them are the wreckage of MV Sygna on the southern end of Stockton Beach, Myall Lakes, Dark Point, Morpeth and the various Bay communities such as Anna, Fingal, Shoal and Nelson Bays.

Of course visiting Tin City is not compulsory but if you do wish to visit there are three possibilities -

Walk in - park on Nelson Bay Road and walk along Boyces Trail for about one kilometre to where there is a fence separating the scrub and sand dunes. The fence is low so it's easy to step over. Then walk about 500 or 600 metres over sand dunes to Tin City. Arriving this way allows plenty of opportunities to photograph the dunes.

Drive in - if you own a 4WD and are prepared to drive along a beach this is an option. To do this you need a valid Worimi Conservation Lands Beach Vehicle Permit which can be purchased online or in person at local service stations. The permit costs $33 for a 3 day pass.

Take a tour - there are a few tour operators offering small group tours.
