Description: | ![]() Meet at South Curl Curl Surf Club at 6:30am in the morning. For those that would like to get the sun rise, weather permitting, it’s at 6:09am. There is plenty of free street parking in the area, if you don’t want to donate to the local council with paid car parking. The plan is to walk to Freshwater Beach and have breakfast at “The Pocket” café which is located close to the beach below the surf club. For those that wish to, continue south from the café, after breakfast, onto Queenscliff beach. Hopefully we’ll get some great golden light and some of the early morning activity, swimmers, birds etc. There are two options to get to Freshwater one along the boardwalk onto Lumsdaine Drive, then walk down to the Freshwater Rockpool. The second, for those that can manage more challenging walk, is along the rock shelf. High tide is scheduled to be 8:54am, so we will need to assess conditions on the day and see if it is safe to do so. The walk to Queenscliff is a bit more strenuous as you have to walk over the headland but it may be worthwhile, including a visit the Manly Wormhole, it’s manmade apparently. It does mean clambering over rocks to get there but may be worthwhile. Total distance between Curl Curl and Queenscliff is about 3km. Of course, then you have to walk back. We should allow 45 mins for the walk to Freshwater, plus time for breakfast. |
