    Description:
Visit to the Photographic Studio at the Museum of Applied
Arts and Sciences (The Powerhouse Museum)
    500 Harris Street, Ultimo

We will meet at the main entrance to the Powerhouse Museum at 10 am. For those travelling from the North Shore by train, we will aim to catch the 08.13 from Hornsby, 08.26 from Gordon, 08.36 from Chatswood, arriving at Central at 09.03. For this journey we will travel in the first carriage so that we can exit near the Devonshire Street Tunnel at Central.  This timing will allow for an interesting 500m walk via the Goods Line, past the iconic Dr Chau Chak Wing building designed by Frank Gehry, directly to the museum. For additional information including pictures, view this walking guide.  There may also be time for a coffee!

On arrival at 10 am we will be directed to the studio. Our guides will be the present Media Producer, Marinco Kojanovski, and his predecessor, Geoff Friend. They will give us an overview of how a museum media department works and explain the techniques they use and the styles and requirements for their various exhibitions.
After the tour, we can visit the museum itself.  The cost of entry is $15 adult or $8 senior. There are several current exhibitions but the main one is "Apollo 11" a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing. Entry to the exhibition is included in the general entry ticket.
At 12.30 pm we will regroup for lunch at the MAAS Cafe, on level 3 of the museum.
The afternoon will be free, with plenty of photographic opportunities around Darling Harbour.
