A reminder that the Head On Photo Festival opened on 17th May. Amongst the many exhibitions there are two from the Nebuli Arts group. This group is comprised of members of Northside Creative Photography and their aims are to forge strong cultural links with the local community and the Arts Industry, and to produce a visual culture that aspires to attain a distinctive niche within Contemporary Photographic art.

Pieter de Vries
Video with your DSLR

If you have a late-model DSLR, chances are your camera shoots HD video. And even if your aspirations don’t reach beyond capturing the big moments of everyday life, it’s still worth setting your camera to record, if only to see what beautiful movies you can make using the tools you already own. But shooting video demands a new set of skills with both picture taking and camera operation.
Northside Creative was most fortunate to receive a presentation on this topic for Pieter de Vries who is one of Australia’s most well known cinematographers and has photographed many important and acclaimed television series spanning more than seventy five countries. He has received international recognition for his documentary and drama cinematography along with numerous awards.
Pieter is consider one of Australia’s foremost experts in the use of DSLR's for cinematography. He has conducted a series of Australia
wide seminars for Canon Australia, specifically aimed at photographers wishing to make the transition to video cinematography.
