Competition Galleries

Members are encouraged to display award winning photos in the competition area of the Gallery. If you need to have your photo scanned give it to Wal Lamberth at the end of the competition night.

Members Galleries

The purpose of the member's photo album area is to allow members to display their photographic work. The Gallery software permits maintenance of albums without assistance from the Webmaster. It is therefore important that members read and comply with the instructions. The software is very intuitive and has inbuilt safeguards to prevent user error. As a guide it is suggested that twelve is about the number of images to display.

Outing Galleries

The purpose of the outings photo album area is to allow members to display images taken on club outings. Members load their images directly into the album without assistance from the Webmaster. There is a limit of ten images per member per outing.

IMAGE PROTECTION

While images placed on this Website have the full protection of Copyright Law, members should be aware that the Internet is a global space and images may be used in ways that were not intended.

Members should carefully consider the suitability of images for publication. For example care should be taken with the following:

  • People photographed not in a public place for whom you do not have a model release;
  • Children

Members should consider taking precautions such as:

  • Using a watermark to identifying their work;
  • The image file name should be constructed from the title and photographer's name (see below).

UPLoading Photos

Uploading of photos is the process of transferring photos from your computer to the Gallery album. The relevant albums are as follows.

Competition Directly into the relevant competition album
Member's album Your named album under Member's Photos
Outings Directly into the relevant outing album

Photo/s to be loaded should be prepared in accordance with Production of Images.

Login and navigate to the appropriate album from the above.

Open the Sidebar and click on 'Add Items'.

  1. Use the default ''From Web Browser'
  2. Under File click browse to locate your image on the computer. You may upload mutliple images if you wish
  3. Leave Caption field blank
  4. Set item titles from 'Base Filename' which is the default
  5. Untick Assign caption to: 'Summary' and 'Description'
  6. Click 'Add Items'

Check that your image/s appear correctly in the album.

The image will initially display with just the title and owner. For Competition and Outing albums the administrator will then assign 'Edit/Delete Permission' to the image enabling the author to complete the 'Description' or delete the image if a mistake has been made. If the rules have been followed the Title should be correct. If not, this may also be corrected.

For Members albums the author already has 'Edit/delete Permission'.

Production of Images

Images need to be resized and renamed before they are uploaded to the Gallery.

The process for carrying this out and the standards will be found under Image Resizing.
